03 — The founder
I spent 21 years in California prisons. I went in as a young man who had caused real harm, and I came home a valedictorian, a coach, a co-founder, and a builder of programs that now run inside the same facilities that once held me.
At CROP I helped win major state funding and trained more than a hundred coaches. At Mentora Institute I lead transformational programs inside California correctional facilities and serve on the coaching faculty. I have spoken at the State Capitol seven times and co-authored two books. None of it was handed to me, and none of it was built alone.
Built From Within exists because I believe what I practiced: nothing durable is bolted on from the outside. Organizations, like people, are built from within.
